The novel coronavirus has taken over much of our daily life. Not only are we inundated with stories about COVID-19 on the news, but many of us are now working from home or going without a job for the foreseeable future. Sadly, the coronavirus scare is only just beginning. We have no idea when it will come to an end. So, how do you stay clean and healthy with this superbug floating around? Here are some tips to prevent catching the flu and to boost your immune system.

Social Distancing

The phrase of the year 2020 will forever be “social distancing.” As absurd as isolation sounds, it’s essential for stopping the spread of this pandemic. Human-to-human contact is the number one reason this virus has ravaged the world. So, it’s best if we create a little gap between our interactions.

Successful social distancing means refraining from gatherings of ten or more people. At all costs, don’t go anywhere you expect more than 50 people to be. Otherwise, you increase the risk of being infected.

If you are in public, please allow two to six feet between yourself and others. You don’t want to chance having another person cough in your direction and contracting their virus.

Washing Your Hands

Washing your hands is always important for optimal health. However, this sentiment is now more true than ever. The most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to continually wash your hands.

Also, make sure you get rid of all tissues you use. You don’t want anything sitting around the house that may contain potential pathogens. Lastly, avoid touching your face, mouth, and eyes. You don’t want potential viruses to transfer from surfaces to your orifices. Otherwise, they will get quick and easy entry to your body.

Eat Fruits and Veggies

COVID-19 is detrimental to people who have a compromised immune system. So, it’s in your best interest to keep your immune system as robust as possible. You can achieve this feat by incorporating fruits and veggies into your diet.

Eating a wide variety of vegetables and fruits will provide your body with an abundance of nutrients. Many of these vitamins and minerals have antiviral, antibiotic, and antifungal properties. So, they can help fight off pathogens that weaken your system, which makes you more susceptible to contracting the flu.

Stay Home and Sleep

If you do have COVID-19, don’t venture out too much, if at all. The best thing you can do for yourself is to remain at home. That way, you don’t run into other potential pathogens, nor do you risk infecting others.

There is no cure for COVID-19. So, there isn’t much a hospital can do for you. Unless you have a suppressed immune system, you should be able to get through the coronavirus in the privacy of your own home. Be sure to catch up on your sleep and remember to stay hydrated. We’re all in this together. Stay safe and healthy!
